Terms of Use
Planckstar, operated by Aster Solutions LLC Last updated: 23 September 2026
1. Who we are
Planckstar is a spatial workspace for plans and note-taking. You place nodes in three dimensions and keep notes, checklists, links, images, vectors, documents and 3D models inside them. A collection of nodes is called a cluster.
Planckstar is operated by Aster Solutions LLC ("we", "us"), a limited liability company registered in New Mexico, United States.

2. Accepting these terms
By creating an account or using Planckstar you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy and Acceptable Use Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the service.
You must be at least 13 years old. If you are under 18, you may only use Planckstar with the involvement of a parent or guardian. If you are in the EU or UK, the minimum age is 16 unless your country sets it lower.
3. Your account
You are responsible for your account credentials and for everything done through your account. Tell us promptly at support@planckstar.com if you believe someone else has access or that your credentials have been compromised.
Accounts are personal. Do not share credentials or let others use your account.
4. Free accounts, Planckstar Pro and billing
A Planckstar account is free and stays free. A free account creates clusters, uploads files and syncs across every device you sign in on, within an allowance of 5 clusters and 400 MB of storage. No card is required and there is no time limit.
Planckstar Pro is optional. It raises the allowance to 200 clusters and 4 GB of storage and adds the ability to publish clusters publicly. It includes a 7-day free trial.
Price
| Where you subscribe | Price |
|---|---|
| planckstar.com | $3.99 USD per month |
| In the iOS app | $4.99 USD per month |
Cancelling
- Subscribed on planckstar.com: cancel at any time from the billing portal in your account.
- Subscribed in the iOS app: cancel in your Apple ID settings. This is the only place an App Store subscription can be cancelled — we cannot cancel it for you.
Cancellation takes effect at the end of the period you have already paid for. Unless you cancel before the trial ends, the first charge occurs on day 8 and monthly thereafter.
When Pro ends, your account becomes a free account. See section 10 for what happens to your content, and section 6 for what happens to anything you have published.
Payments and refunds
Subscriptions bought on planckstar.com are processed by Stripe; we do not receive or store your full card number. Subscriptions bought in the iOS app are processed by Apple, and we receive no payment details at all.
Refunds. Payments are non-refundable except where required by law. If you were charged unexpectedly on planckstar.com, write to support@planckstar.com within 14 days and we will consider a refund in good faith. Refunds for App Store purchases are handled by Apple and we cannot issue them — request one at reportaproblem.apple.com.
If you are a consumer in the EU or UK you may have a statutory right to withdraw within 14 days; nothing here removes that right.
Price changes. We may change the price with at least 30 days' notice by email. The new price applies from your next renewal. If you don't want to continue, cancel before then.
Failed payments. If a charge fails we may retry and may suspend Pro until payment succeeds. Content is not deleted during a short suspension.
5. Your content
You own what you make. Clusters, nodes, notes, checklists and files you upload remain yours. We claim no ownership.
You grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, copy, transmit and display your content solely in order to operate and provide the service. When you publish a cluster, that licence extends to displaying it publicly and to producing thumbnails, previews and cached copies. The licence ends when you delete the content, except for backup copies which expire on our normal backup cycle.
This licence exists so we can run the product. It does not permit us to sell your content or use it for advertising. Private clusters are never used to train machine-learning models. The single exception for published clusters is set out in section 6, under "Published clusters and AI training".
You are responsible for your content, including having the rights to any files, images or models you upload.
6. Publishing clusters
Clusters are private by default. Publishing requires Planckstar Pro.
When you publish one:
- We create a snapshot. Later edits to your working cluster do not change the published version until you publish again.
- The snapshot gets a public address at
/c/<slug>. Anyone with the link can view it; no account is required. - It appears on the public discovery globe, pinned to a city. When you publish, we suggest a city from the coarse location headers your connection already carries. We do not store your IP address alongside your cluster, only the city name and approximate coordinates. You can change the city; once a cluster is public the pin may be changed once per day.
- Other users can star it.
- Files inside a published cluster are copied to a public address at
assets.planckstar.comand served from there. Those addresses are stable and do not expire, so anyone who has one can open the file directly until the cluster is unpublished or deleted. - We list published clusters in our sitemap, so search engines are actively told they exist. They may index it, and third parties may cache or archive it.
If Pro ends, your published clusters are unpublished. When a subscription lapses or is cancelled and the paid period runs out, we remove that account's published clusters from the globe and delete their snapshots and published files, exactly as though you had unpublished them yourself. We will tell you in the app when this happens. Nothing in your own workspace is touched — the clusters remain yours, and subscribing again lets you publish them once more, though you will have to publish each one again.
Published clusters and AI training
From [EFFECTIVE DATE — at least 30 days after existing users are notified], we may use published clusters to train and improve machine-learning models used internally by Aster Solutions LLC, in Planckstar and in its other products and services.
- Published clusters only. Private clusters, drafts, unpublished work and anything stored only in your account are never used for training, under any setting and for any purpose.
- Only clusters published on or after that date. Clusters published before it are not used unless you publish them again after it.
- Internal only. Training stays within Aster Solutions LLC. We do not sell or license your content, or datasets built from it, to anyone else, and we do not publicly release models trained on it.
- No account data. Your name, email address, username and payment details are not included.
- Opting out. You can ask us not to use your published clusters for training by writing to contact@astersts.com. We will exclude them from any training that starts after we receive your request.
- Unpublishing or deleting a cluster removes it from future training. It cannot be removed from a model that has already been trained.
This extends the licence in section 5 to training for published clusters only. It does not extend it to anything else.
Publishing is effectively irreversible in practice. You can unpublish, and we will delete the cluster, its snapshot and its published files from both of our storage providers and remove it from the globe. But we cannot retrieve copies others have already made, cached or archived, and a file address that circulated while the cluster was public may have been saved by anyone who saw it. Do not publish anything you would be harmed by having permanently public.
7. Acceptable use
Your use of Planckstar is governed by the Acceptable Use Policy, which forms part of these Terms.
In short: don't publish content that is illegal, sexual involving minors, harassing, hateful, threatening, deceptive, infringing, or malicious; don't attack or abuse the infrastructure.
8. Reports and enforcement
Signed-in users can report a published cluster. We review reports and may, at our discretion:
- Remove or unpublish a cluster;
- Restrict or suspend an account;
- Terminate an account and refuse further service.
For serious or repeated violations we may act immediately and without notice. Otherwise we will make a reasonable effort to tell you what happened and why, and you may respond at support@planckstar.com.
We are not obliged to monitor content, and we do not promise to review every report within any particular time.
Reporting in bad faith (mass-reporting, retaliation, or knowingly false reports) is itself a violation and can lead to account limitations.
9. Copyright complaints
If you believe content on Planckstar infringes your copyright, send a notice to our designated agent with:
- Your physical or electronic signature;
- Identification of the work you say is infringed;
- The address (
/c/<slug>) of the material you want removed; - Your contact details;
- A statement that you believe in good faith the use is not authorised;
- A statement, under penalty of perjury, that the information is accurate and that you are the owner or authorised to act on their behalf.

We will remove or disable material in appropriate cases and will terminate repeat infringers.
Counter-notice. If your content was removed and you believe that was a mistake, you may send a counter-notice with the same contact details, identification of the material, and a statement under penalty of perjury that it was removed by mistake or misidentification, together with your consent to the jurisdiction of the federal court for your district.
10. Deletion, suspension and data retention
You may delete individual nodes, clusters, or your whole account at any time.
We may suspend or terminate your account for violation of these Terms, for non-payment, or if required by law.
When an account is deleted or terminated:
- Your clusters, uploaded files and published snapshots are deleted from active systems within 30 days.
- Backups are overwritten on our normal cycle.
- Reports filed about your content are retained, along with the associated account identifiers, so that a record of enforcement survives. Deleting an account does not erase reports made about it.
If Planckstar Pro ends, your content is not deleted. Your account becomes a free account and keeps everything in it. Two things change:
- Anything you had published is unpublished. See section 6.
- If you are over the free allowance — more than 5 clusters or 400 MB — nothing is removed, but you cannot save new changes to the server until you are back under it. Your work stays on the device you made it on, and you can export any cluster as a zip at any time, subscribed or not.
We do not delete content for non-payment.
11. Service availability
Planckstar is provided "as is" and "as available". We do not promise it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that data will never be lost.
We may change, suspend or discontinue features at any time. If we discontinue the service entirely, we will give at least 30 days' notice by email so you can export your work.
Keep your own copies of anything you cannot afford to lose. A cloud service is not a backup.
12. Disclaimers
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
We are not responsible for content published by other users, or for anything you rely on from a published cluster.
13. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law:
- We are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits, data or goodwill.
- Our total liability for any claim is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or (b) $50 USD.
Some jurisdictions do not allow these exclusions, in which case they apply only as far as the law permits. Nothing here limits liability for fraud, or for death or personal injury caused by negligence.
14. Indemnity
You agree to indemnify Aster Solutions LLC against claims, damages and reasonable legal costs arising from your content, your use of the service, or your violation of these Terms.
15. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms. What that means for you depends on what changed.
Changes that take effect when published. Corrections, clarifications, changes describing a new or altered feature, adding or changing a service provider, and changes we are required to make by law. These appear on this page with a new "last updated" date and apply from that moment.
Changes that reduce your rights. A price increase, removing something a paid subscription included, shortening how long we keep your content, or new restrictions on what you may do or publish. For these we will give existing users at least 30 days' notice by email or in the app before they take effect. The current Terms continue to apply during that period.
Continuing to use Planckstar after a change has taken effect means you accept it. If you do not, you may stop using the service and cancel any subscription before the change applies.
16. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of New Mexico, United States, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. Disputes will be brought in the state or federal courts located in Bernalillo County, New Mexico, and both parties consent to that jurisdiction.
If you are a consumer in the EU or UK, this does not deprive you of the protection of mandatory consumer laws in your country of residence.
17. General
If any provision is unenforceable, the rest remains in effect. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver. You may not transfer these Terms; we may transfer them to a successor in a merger or sale of the business.
These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy and Acceptable Use Policy, are the entire agreement between us.
